“Mount Hideaway Mysteries: Exes and Oh No’s”

is a family-friendly mystery movie with strong female lead characters, filmed in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley by a small, family-owned production company.

Christine from “Blooming Brilliant” writes…
The film’s lead is female, and not the center of attention because of her body but the center of attention because of her brain, kindness, and compassion. She is the kind of protagonist a young girl should look up to. While this family-friendly film was clean it was still interesting, Keeping us on our toes while we tried to solve the murder mystery along with the cast.
Heidi from “Starts at Eight” writes…
It was refreshing to find an entertaining movie free of gratuitous profanity, gore, or sexual situations. Instead of making fun of homeschooling, or portraying homeschoolers as odd social outcasts, this homeschool friendly mystery movie portrays homeschoolers as smart, and homeschooling is a valid choice for families.
Ashley from “The Purposeful Nest” writes…
Intended for ages 12+ ( because of the murder plot) Mount Hideaway Mysteries is a wonderful detective movie that will have you in suspense as you watch attentively, looking for clues to solve the mysteries as the movie plays out. The film is well-written. You won’t want to miss a moment of the movie.
Anne from “My Learning Table“ writes…
The film incorporates gorgeous scenery with likable characters into an intriguing mystery that keeps you guessing. It was a pleasant change-of-pace to see homeschoolers depicted in a respectful way. I appreciate the portrayal of parents in the film as intelligent and relevant rather than goofy or inept.
Leah from “As We Walk Along the Road” writes…
Too often shows that are "family-friendly" are banal.  Mount Hideaway Mysteries Exes and Oh No's has a plot that will actually encourage watchers to think about the mystery and figure out what's going on. There are lots of great talking points in this movie and many reasons I think you need to check it out for your next family movie night.
Sophie from “My Cup Runs Over” writes…
Homeschooling is deliberately woven into the plot in a way that will delight homeschooled children. We loved that the film was a community-based initiative. You really get the feeling that the story is set in an actual small town where everybody knows everybody and is part of something that is bigger than themselves.
Kay from “Heart to Heart Homeschooling” writes…
Mount Hideaway Mysteries: Exes and Oh No’s is an indie mystery and romance movie—without all of the bad language, graphic violence, and scenes that have you dashing for the fast forward button. It’s intended for ages 12+ since it is a murder mystery, but a classic one as told in years past. Perfect for your middle schoolers and older kids.
Charlene from “Hess Un-Academy” writes…
My kids were on the edge of their seats! They truly enjoyed this family-friendly mystery thriller. My husband and I easily got caught up in the mysterious goings-on and we spent the whole movie trying to figure out what was going to happen next. You know, the typical who-done-it that goes along with a good mystery thriller.
Tiffany from “Homeschool Hideout” writes…
We recently watched Mount Hideaway Mysteries: Exes and Oh No’s and we fell in love. I was stoked to see the leading lady was not only kind and compassionate but also smart and quick thinking. She was the perfect role-model for my girls! The family-friendly movie was clean yet interesting. It challenged us to solve the murder mystery, while throwing in a bit of homeschool humor at the same time.
