When a deadly explosion rocks their small Virginia town, four homeschooled teens use their Criminal Science skills to uncover a conspiracy that threatens everything they love. But solving crimes as teenagers was just the beginning.
Years later, former spy Bethany Shanholtz returns home seeking peace, only to find murder waiting at her doorstep. With national security hanging in the balance, she reunites her childhood detective team to catch a killer—even if the evidence points to someone she once loved.
In the thrilling conclusion, Amy Bradford—the sweet-natured veterinarian and crime scene investigator—takes center stage. When tragedy strikes close to home, this tender-hearted detective must face her greatest challenge yet, confronting a ruthless multinational corporation that threatens both her town and everyone she holds dear.
This acclaimed Christian mystery series delivers intelligent plots, strong characters, and edge-of-your-seat suspense—all wrapped in messages of faith and family values that never feel preachy. Perfect for teens and adults alike, these books inspired the hit streaming movies now available on Prime Video, Tubi, and Roku.

Friends and teenage sleuths investigate a series of murders. The plot thickens and they find themselves in dangerous situations and fall back on their faith in God to see them through.
I enjoyed the depth of each character as they come to grip with family issues, relationships, and becoming adults.

The mystery is good and intelligent and I am enjoying the development of the young characters by getting to know more about them. The town also has a wonderful cast of characters that I am enjoying getting to know. The book touches on dealing with loss and the dynamics of romantic relationships and how they are forever changing healthily and realistically but doesn’t talk down to the readers.

This book is a must-read! I found the plotline refreshingly original that brings so much to the table. I came for the mystery but the relationships are equally intriguing. I liked how the adults in the novel were portrayed realistically and equally involved- something you don’t get usually from YA. I am looking forward to learning more about the characters and how they relate to each other as I progress through the series as well as learning more about Steven’s Mill.

This book was well-written, and followed the first book well. It was pretty close to the exact movie, but explained a little more in-depth what characters were thinking. Now I HAVE to read book 3! I am a home-school graduate myself, as is my husband, though our homeschooling days were in the 80s and 90s, and we are quite a bit older than these characters. I love the way this franchise is good PR for homeschooling.
